My name is Matthew Giroux. I graduated from Damascus High School and am now a Senior at Susquehanna University. I've been swimming since the age of 4, when I joined the Plantations swim team. I swam for the DHS team as well as my club team, RMSC, and continue to swim at Susquehanna. In my free time, I like to hang out with friends or play basketball.
What makes me a good coach is not only my love for the sport, but my experience with the sport and the fact that I like working with kids. Swimming is a great sport and there are many things to like about it. My favorite things about swimming are the friendships that you create throughout the season, the reward you get when you drop time, and the competition in swim meets.
Hi Piranha Families! My name is Zack Callis and I am super excited to be your Assistant Coach! I grew up in Damascus and graduated from DHS in 2017 and attend McDaniel College pursuing a degree in Theatre Arts and American Sign Language. I swam for the Damascus Dolphins for 13 years and swam on the DHS Varsity Swim Team all four years and was a captain my senior year. When I’m not at the pool (which is a lot) I can be found driving around Damascus with my friends or outside by a fire during the night. Other hobbies include: theatre, listening to music and watching movies. I’m really an open book so if you have any questions, go ahead and ask!
Water has always played a huge role in my life, from being at the pool during the summer or on the beach, it has always been a constant. I hope that through coaching your children I can instill a love of water the same way my coaches did for me when I was younger. I look forward to an awesome season. Go Piranhas!
Hi! My name is Julia Tomlinson. I just finished my junior year at Damascus High School, where I played basketball and lacrosse. I joined the Plantations swim team when I was five years old and have loved it ever since. This season I will continue to swim on the team while also being a junior coach. My two younger brothers swim for the team as well. Matthew is 15 and Timmy is 11. My favorite stroke is backstroke but I like fly and IM too.
When swim team is over, I’m going on vacation with my family to Deep Creek Lake…our annual tradition! I love being around the pool and I’m looking forward to working with all the kids this year!
Hello, my name is Kaylor Stroot.
I am going into my first year of college at McDaniel after graduating from Brookewood School. I have been on the Piranhas swim team since I was in fourth grade.
I have a 14 year-old-sister and a 10 year-old-brother on the swim team too. I love backstroke and I can’t wait to be your junior coach this year! I will be here lifeguarding at P2 throughout the summer, but I will also be going to the west coast to meet my mom’s family and Maine to see my mom’s family also.
A few fun facts; I love traveling, art, and mac & cheese; I was born on February 29, 2000; and I am going to college to study to be a high school Chemistry and a Special Ed teacher.
