    Update: Summer Swim Team 2020

    Hi Piranha Families —-

I hope this e-mail finds all of you and your extended families healthy during the on-going Coronavirus pandemic.  I am writing to provide you with an update on our team and league status for this upcoming summer based on the league meeting that was held on Thursday, 23 April.

    Here are the major details:

    A. The league has not abandoned hope of having a season of some type this year, but has decided that all large meets will definitely be canceled.  That includes DIVISIONALS, All Relay Carnivals (Division and League), All-Start meets, and the Coaches Long Course Meet.

    B. That leaves dual meets.  Even for dual meets they have decided that if pools were open,  it is unlikely two teams could hold a dual meet together, so that dual meets may be held virtually.  In spite of what you may have heard through other teams, they did not have a clear description of what that might look like.  They also said the dual meet season could be delayed or shortened.  All further decisions are dependent on the Governor’s guidance over the coming weeks.  More clarity will be provided at the next league meeting.

    C. Finally, all officials certifications will automatically be extended one year, and they are looking at holding on-line training  for new officials.  May be a great way to get your certification done if you want to help us out by volunteering as an official. I will provide details on on-line training when it comes out.

With the above being said, we will obviously not be opening registration on May 1st due to the uncertainty associated with the upcoming season.  Our next league meeting is May 21st, and I will be in touch again following that meeting, unless there are updates to provide before then.

Until then, make sure you stay safe and take care of yourself and your families.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at any time.
