2021 Registration Begins May 1st and Other Important News!!!
Piranha Families ---
I hope this e-mail finds you all well! I will cover registration, coaching staff, volunteer needs, practice and meet news, and the date for our next parent meeting in this e-mail!
REGISTRATION:
It is with great excitement that I announce the Registration for the 2021 Piranhas Summer Swim Season will begin on May 1st. The registration fees have not changed for this season. The 1st swimmer in each family will be $150 and each subsequent swimmer will be $75, up to a family maximum of $300. In addition to paying for your swimmers, the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL) is requiring that a COVID waiver will need to be signed for each swimmer. This waiver will be included in the registration process. Kevin Lynch and I are hoping to make the signing of the waiver electronic so we do not have to track all of that paper. If you have any questions about registration please let me know!
COACHING STAFF:
I am pleased to announce our staff of all current or former Piranhas swimmers. The coaches will definitely be familiar with your kids and are planning for a fun and successful season:
Head Coach: Julia Tomlinson
Asst. Head Coach: Sara Gruber
Jr. Assts: Nic Santorelli and AJ Navaleza
I am working to get them all under contract so we are set to go for the season ahead.
VOLUNTEERS:
The MCSL has had in-person dual meets approved. The meet format will not allow for concessions, hospitality, or SPECTATORS, so volunteering may be your only ticket inside the fence for a meet. Here are the key volunteer positions and those who have volunteered to fill them so far:
A-Rep (2/3 people) - Mike Gregory, I need one or two intrepid souls to step up and help out. I will be out of town for one meet so I will need someone to handle that weekend.
Web-Master (1) - Kevin Lynch, I'm sure Kevin would love a trainee!
Team Swimsuit Coordinator (1) - Cindy Ajamian (maybe?)
Treasurer (1) : Chris Tomlinson
Automation (3/4): Mary Stroot, (Need 3 other to help Mary)
Announcer (2): Tom Stroot, Steve Douglas, Chris Tomlinson in a pinch
Spirit Wear (1): OPEN (I haven't confirmed with last years volunteer)
Volunteer Coordinator (2): Cyndi Gregory and OPEN
Clerk of Course (4): Melissa Howell is the Lead, super important this season
Sponsorship/Fundraising (2): Rosie? and OPEN
SSL Coordinator (1) : Leann Fink?
Officials: Rob Klein organizer
Referee (3): Klein, Scace?, I need some trainees here
Starters (3): Klein, Gregory, Scace?, T. Hughes, T. Stroot (If Tim and Tom get certified I think we might be good here, but 1 more would not hurt)
Stroke and Turn (6): Rob Klein, Scace. Hughesx2, Vaughn (I need 2 or 3 more people here, this is a great year to get certified and gain experience!!)
PRACTICE and MEETS:
Formats for practices and meets have been approved by the Montgomery County Department of Health. We will need to follow the rules strictly and both formats include no parents or spectators on the deck unless they are volunteering. The coaches and Reps will have a lot more responsibility, which may result in an extra jr. assistant coach and buddying of older and younger swimmers to ensure our young kids are supported and get to their events.
PARENTS MEETING:
Next Parents Meeting Via Zoom on Thursday, 29 April at 7:30pm. I will send out a separate e-mail with the link for that meeting, but put it on your calendars now. We will discuss the practice and meet formats and what to expect for the season ahead. I look forward to seeing all of you there!
Go Piranhas!
Mike
