VOLUNTEERS NEEDED and COVID Protocols
Piranha Parents ---
Update on the Lake Marion B Meet:
1) VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We need a ton of volunteers in every position. Urgently we need a certified starter and 2 stroke and turn officials!!! If you have a child swimming in this event please plan on having at least one family member volunteer to help us out!
2) COVID Protocols are listed below. Bottom line is that Lake Marion has very strict COVID protocols. Everyone must wear a mask in the athlete and competition areas. Swimmers must wear a mask to the start line, place it in a labeled ziplock bag and put it back on upon exit of the pool. Social distancing must be maintained. Spectators must wear a mask to and from the spectator area. There is an outside the fence spectator area as well and if you plan to sit there you should plan on bringing a chair. Finally, there are NO CONCESSIONS! Bring your own food and drink!!!
LAKE MARION SWIM TEAM Covid-19 Safety Protocols
The following protocols will be in place for swim meets hosted by Lake Marion Swim Team for the 2021 swim season.
• Athletes, volunteers, and spectators should not attend the meet if they have tested positive for Covid-19 and/or are awaiting Covid-19 test results.
• Masks will be required in athlete and competition areas.
• Masks are required in the bathhouse.
• All athletes should maintain 6 feet of distance from other athletes not from the same household, in the athlete area. However, designated social distancing areas for athletes will be marked for swimmers that want to maintain 6 feet distance at all times while in the athlete area.
• Spectators are not allowed in the athlete areas. Masks are not required while seated in the designated spectator areas but strongly encouraged when 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained. Masks must be worn while walking to or from spectator area.
• Spectators seated in spectator area outside of the pool fence must bring their own chair. Chairs may not be taken from the pool deck.
• Coaches are required to wear masks while in or walking to or from athlete area and/or clerk of course. Coaches may remove masks when in designated coaching area inside the competition area when 6 feet of distance can be maintained from others.
• Athletes will wear their masks until they arrive at their lane and they will then take the mask off, put it in their labeled plastic bag, and place it in the basket behind the starting area of their lane. Athletes will quickly put their masks back on at the completion of their swims before they leave the start area. Athletes may bring a towel to place in the basket with their mask to dry off their face before putting their mask back on after exiting the pool.
• For 25 meter events, one of the runners will collect the labeled plastic bags in a container and deliver them behind the finish end of the appropriate lane for the athletes to retrieve their masks. If needed, the runner will confirm the name of the athlete with the name on the bag with the lane’s timer(s) to avoid cross contamination. • Volunteers working in the competition area, including clerk of course area, will wear a mask when 6 feet of distance cannot be maintained. Volunteers, stroke & turn officials, timers, runners, Referee and Starter, may remove masks briefly to eat or drink.
Let us know if you have any questions!!!
