Piranha Families —-

Good evening!  Congratulations to all our swimmers on a great meet this morning, which resulted in a win over a wonderful group of folks from Twinbrook (more on that later in this e-mail).

PRACTICE MONDAY: Monday may be a holiday for many parents, but for swimmers it’s just another day of practice!!!  So yes, we will have practice Monday at the usual times.  
8-9:30: 11-18 years old

9:30-10:30: 10u

10:30-11:00: Pre-team

B-Meet:

WHEN: Wednesday, July 7th at 6pm; warm-ups at 5:30pm

WHERE: Plantations II Pool

WHO: Our usual B-Meet opponent cannot field a team this season, so we will be having a Team Relay Meet and a Pre-Team mini-meet.  I am asking as many team members as can to attend the meet.  I need you to go in and declare if you plan to attend so that we can develop some good relays.  Pre-team swimmers please let us know that you can make it.  They will swim one lap (with their buddy and a kickboard if necessary).  We will all be there to cheer them on.  I will be looking for minimal volunteers to do some timing and starting.  We will not have automation, but will be DQ’ing any cheating.  The purpose of the meet is to simply have some fun.  We will be done by 8pm.

THANK YOU:  I want to thank everyone who was at the meet today.  Twinbrook is unable to host home meets because of their pool configuration.  As a result they have not had a home meet in 10 years and have a very small team, which is usually overmatched every week.  I e-mailed their Team Rep and Coaches to let them know how impressed I was with with their team spirit and their sportsmanship today as they never stopped cheering for their teammates.  In response they indicated that they could not stop talking about how nice our team and families were to them today.  They were looking at whether they could invite us to their pool to swim relays with them.  This makes me super proud of our Coaches, Swimmers, and Parents and is a credit to all of you.  We represent ourselves, our families, and our community at these events, and I am thrilled we are such great and humble hosts.  This week we will go on the road for the first time.  Let’s be as good at being guests as we are at being hosts!!!
