Happy New Year and Other 2022 Piranha News!
Piranha Families —-
Welcome to 2022. I hope this e-mail finds you well in the midst of what I believe is the fourth wave of the Coronavirus. I meant to send this e-mail earlier, but the start of 2022 was again a stressful one for families in our area with the rise of the Omicron variant, and I wanted to give everyone some time to settle into the New Year. I think virtually all of us have been affected by this latest variant in one way or another, which reminds me how fortunate we were to get a summer swim season in last year! Hopefully, Omicron is receding and we are headed into the endemic phase of the virus. If you have been affected by the virus and need any support, please do not hesitate to reach out. The Piranha family is always here.
2022 Planning: I received my invitation for the first league meeting, which will be held on February 10th. Shortly after that I will host my first parents meeting of the year and Mr. Gonzalez I will reach out to you and the pool committee with an update as well. I will be reaching out to those who have volunteered for key positions in the past and verify continued ability to support. I am also looking for additional volunteers to assist with the Team Rep job. I have been the Team Rep for 4 seasons now and it is time to start handing over the reigns and getting new ideas from other parents. Hopefully, Cindy A. will be able to assist once the school year wraps up, but I’m looking for 3 other people to get involved to start by running the B meets. I will always be around to help, but I need to delegate more of the workload. Please think about helping out, we have a lot of fun with it!!
First Team Building Activity: Coach Julia has let me know she intends to return to Coach again this summer, which is awesome news, and makes the Reps life super easy. However, Julia just tore her ACL and meniscus playing basketball for Catholic University. She will be having surgery in February. I am going to have Keegan make a large ‘Good Luck / Get Well’ Banner to put up for Julia when she has her surgery (she is not on this post). I will be sending out an announcement to come to the Gregory driveway or the Pool Parking Lot and sign/write a note on the banner, or you can make a card that we will either affix to the banner or include with it. Ms. Tomlinson will tell me the surgery date and we will let Coach know we are in her corner as she rehabs from this significant injury. Stay tuned for an announcement of this event. Your kids can work on cards on their day off on Monday😬
I’m looking forward to seeing you all very soon and preparing and planning for the 2022 summer swim season!
Go Piranhas!!
Mike
