    Week #3: Time Trial Make-ups, New Events, and First A-Meet

    Thank you to everyone for being so flexible with the changes to the time trials schedule this past weekend, and thank you to everyone (Wolske, Klein, Shaddid, Moore, I know I am missing someone who brought the one for Clerk of Course) who brought a tent to keep the timers and swimmers dry.  Fortunately, it did not rain too badly and we were able to get the meet in prior to noon.  

    Thanks to all of our volunteers who helped us get through Time Trials this morning. A special thanks to Barbara Vaughn (Starter), Cyndi Gregory (Stroke and Turn), Tim Hughes (Stroke and Turn) and Julia Khouri (Stroke and Turn) for helping out in a pinch as we were a little short-handed! I really appreciate all of your help!!  Also, Coach Julia and Mary Stroot were up well into the evening on Friday piecing the meet together to shorten the length of the meet.  Great work ladies!!!!

    I did collect a larger than usual amount of lost and found items.  They will be at the pool tomorrow for pick up.

    This week we have Time-Trial makeups and our first A-meet on Saturday! In addition, we have some brand new social events to announce (Parent Night Out and Team Bowling).  All of the details are below:

    WEEKLY MEET SCHEDULE:

    1. Time Trial Make-up:

    WHEN: Monday-Tuesday (and maybe Wednesday), at 6:45pm

    WHERE: Plantations II Pool

    WHO: All swimmers who missed Time Trials and wish to receive a time in an attempt to make the first A-meet. I have notified each family and requested they notify me if they want to make up time trials. We have a large number of swimmers who need to make up Time Trials. We will do our best to get everyone a time if we can.

    VOLUNTEERS: Parents of time trial make up swimmers please plan to stay after practice and time your swimmers. We will have stroke and turn to identify swimmers who are not legal in their strokes.

    2. First A- Meet:

    WHEN: Saturday, June 18th @ 9am; warm-ups at 8:00am. Arrive by 7:50am and Check-in with Coach Julia or Coach Sara.

    CHALK IT UP:  Arrive at 7:30am if you would like to decorate the walkway outside the gate with some artwork welcoming James Creek to our pool.  Chalk is provided, but feel free to donate.

    WHERE: Plantations II Pool

    WHO: James Creek

    DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: Please go on-line and declare your swimmers either AVAILABLE or NOT AVAILABLE for the meet. You must be declared by 6pm, Wednesday, June 15th, so that the coaches can prepare the meet line-up.

    VOLUNTEER: While you are declaring your swimmer is AVAILABLE, SIGN-UP to volunteer for a position at this week's meet.

    MEET LINE-UP: The meet line-up will be posted Friday, June, 17th.


    ANNOUNCING NEW SOCIAL EVENTS:

    1. Parent Social

    WHEN: Friday, June 24th 6-9pm

    WHERE: Vineyard 61, 28712 Kemptown Road Damascus, MD 20872

    WHO: This event is for Parents Only to spend some time together having fun, sipping some wine, and listening to some music. Please visit the team calendar for event details and to RSVP for this event.

    2. Swim Team Bowling

    WHEN: Friday, July 15th 4-6pm

    WHERE: Mt. Airy Bowling Lanes, 304 Center St., Mt. Airy, MD 21771

    WHO: Swimmers only with Parent Supervision for Swimmers under 10. Please visit the team calendar for event details and to RSVP.

    COST: $16/swimmer


    TEAM EVENTS THIS WEEK

    1. PRACTICE:

    Practice continues after school through Friday, June 17th:

    a. No pre-team practice until Monday, June 20th.

    b. 10 and under: 5:45-6:45pm

    c. 11-18 years: 4:45-5:45pm

    d. Summer schedule will begin next week!!!

    2. New Parent Meeting: Monday, June 13th at 5:45pm - I'm sorry I missed this last week. This is for all families who haven't heard me provide the details on how the swim team functions throughout the season. Look for me outside the gate at 5:45pm
