PIRANHA FAMILIES ---

First, I want to give a big shout out to the entire team.  We had thunderstorms most of the afternoon, but had a window to get most of the meet in this evening and EVERYONE showed up...no scratches!!  I want to thank Mindy Mayhew at Quail Valley for working with me all afternoon to make it happen.  Quail Valley are always a pleasure to work with and great friends of our team (if you look at our pool record board you will see a lot of their swimmers)!!!  I also want to thank all the parents, coaches, and swimmers who helped to quickly set up and tear down operations tonight.  Many hands make light work.  

There are so many people to recognize, but a few are:  Barbara Vaughn and David Gonzalez for Refereeing and Stroke and Turn judging in their first meets.  These are critical positions and I know Rob is glad to have others to share the workload with each week.  Allison Lynch for being so flexible and as always awesome with the concessions planning.  Speaking of concessions a BIG shout out to the Shaddid's!!  They are new to the team, and are volunteering everywhere, including manning the grill this evening, which is a big moneymaker for the team!!!  Shannon Woodward was head timer, and I thought she did a great job understanding her role in that position.  Finally, Matt Johnson for taking his first swing at Announcing.  Believe me it is harder than Matt and Tom make it look!  It is great to have so many options at all of these positions!  

WEEKLY MEET SCHEDULE:

1. A- Meet:

WHEN: Saturday, June 25th @ 9am

WHERE: West Hillendale; 915 Schindler Dr., Silver Spring MD across from Key Middle School.  Note: This is a 40-45 minute drive.  They have a large parking lot.  If for any reason you can't find parking, you can park at Key Middle School.  

ARRIVE: Plan to arrive between 7:50-8:00am and meet OUTSIDE the pool, make sure to check-in with the coaches.  We plan to enter the pool together at 8:10am and head to our Team Area which will be between the baby pool and the hammock stand near the shallow end of the pool.  It is a shady, grassy area.  Recommend you bring a folding chair to sit in.

THEME:  The theme for this week's meet is Hawaiian/Luau.  Please wear your best Hawaiian outfit!!!

WARM-UP:  Our warm-ups are 8:20-8:40am

DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: Please go on-line and declare your swimmers either AVAILABLE or NOT AVAILABLE for the meet.  Julia is presently putting the lineup together.

VOLUNTEER: While you are declaring your swimmer is AVAILABLE, SIGN-UP to volunteer for a position at this week's meet.

MEET LINE-UP: The meet line-up will be posted Friday, June, 24th.

2. Relay Carnival:

WHEN: Sunday, June 26th at 9am

WHERE: North Creek Neptunes, 20125 Arrowhead Rd., Montgomery Village, MD 20886.  This is a 15-20 minute drive.  There is plenty of parking at the North Creek Pool (which is brand new!!)

ARRIVE: Again arrive between 7:50-8:00am and meet outside.  We will enter the pool together around 8:05am. We are in Team Area 4.  No tents are needed as there is a big umbrella over our area.  Its all on concrete so you may want to bring a folding chair to sit in.

THEME: Wear you Piranha Gear for this meet!!  We want to rock the Piranha gear for the relays!!!

WARM-UP: Our warm-up is from 8:15-8:30am with Diamond Farms.  They have 8 lanes for warm-up, so we will have 4 lanes!

DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: Please go on-line and declare your swimmers either AVAILABLE or NOT AVAILABLE for the meet. Julia is presently putting the lineup together.

VOLUNTEER: While you are declaring your swimmer is AVAILABLE, SIGN-UP to volunteer for a one of the few positions needed at this meet.

TEAM EVENTS THIS WEEK

1. PRACTICE:

Practice continues Thursday and Friday via the following schedule:

a. NO PRE-TEAM PRACTICE ON FRIDAY!!.

b. 10 and under: 9:30-10:30am

c. 11-18 years: 8:00-9:30am

d. Pre-team: 10:30-11:00am on Thursday only

2. Parent Social at 61 Vineyards

WHEN: Friday, June 24th from 6-9pm

WHERE: 61 Vineyards, 28712 Kemptown Rd

This is an event for PARENTS / COACHES only so we can have some quality adult time together.  This event is FREE except for the wine.  Feel free to bring something to share with the other parents.  We look forward to seeing you there prior to our full weekend of swimming!! 

3. NEXT WEEK's B-MEET is on TUESDAY NIGHT, June 28th, instead of Wednesday, at Whetstone.  Whetstone hosts meets on Tuesday evenings.  This is our only away B-Meet except for Relay Carnival at Quail Valley.
