Welcome to Week #2!!! We will start rolling into some of our weekly e-mails for the team following our terrific first week of practice. The coaches are doing a great job with the swimmers, of which we have over 115 swimmers, and the weather has been warm which made for happy swimmers!! The swimmers are getting familiar with the routine and the coaches are working hard to get them prepared for the season!

WEEKLY MEET SCHEDULE:

This week is Time Trials (NO Pre-Team swimmers):

WHEN: Saturday, June 10th at 9:00am, warm-ups will start at 8:20am.

RAIN DATE: Sunday, June 11th at 9:00am, warm-ups will start at 8:20am

WEATHER: We saw the forecast for Saturday and it looks dry with temps in the 60’s-70’s in the AM.  Great weather for swimming.

WHERE: Plantations II Pool

DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: You must have your swimmers declared for the meet by noon on Thursday, June 8th. We need everyone possible to participate in Time Trials. Coach Nic and the Team Reps will be putting the lineup together on Thursday evening. Like last season, Coach Nic is going to determine the events you will be swimming at Time Trials. If you miss the deadline for some reason, please contact the Team Reps. We will schedule makeups for Monday and Tuesday next week, but with a limited amount of space and time with the practices going on we may not be able to get everyone through all of the events. If you have a swimmer making up time trials, make sure you stay around to time.

VOLUNTEER: We need all parents to check out the volunteer sign up tab that is next to the meet sign up tab for time trials. We need 20 timers for this meet, 4 stroke and turn judges, 2 runners, and 3 clerk of course, and 3 automation personnel among other jobs. When you sign your swimmer up, please sign up to volunteer. Lauren Gonzalez, Sara Carbonell, Cyndi Gregory and Shannon Dietrich are our Volunteer Coordinators. On Thursday and Friday they will start contacting those who have not volunteered to assign you a job. Please sign up to volunteer and pick your desired post, so we don't have to assign one for you.

WEBSITE: If you have any issues with signing up your children or yourself for volunteering, please see a Team Rep and we will help you out.

TEAM EVENTS THIS WEEK:

1. Practice continues after school this week Monday, June 5th - Friday, June 9th:

Pre-team: No practice until June 19th

13-18 year olds: 4-5pm

8u and 9-10 girls: 5-6pm

9-10 boys and 11-12 year olds: 6-7pm

2. Ice Cream Social: For all of our Piranha Swimmers...

WHEN: Friday, June 9th at the conclusion of each practice

WHERE: At the pool

VOLUNTEER: We need people to volunteer to bring supplies and scoop ice cream. Please check the event on the calendar to sign up to volunteer.  Korinne Panchura is our event coordinator, please help us out by volunteering at this event.  PLEASE NO NUTS at this event.  Also, those with a dairy allergy can contact the Team Repa to see if we can find an alternative for your swimmer. 

3.  Water, Soda, Gatorade Donations: We NEED each family to provide two cases of water, soda (12 oz. Coke, Sprite, Diet Coke), or Gatorade (20 oz.). We will be selling drinks, ice cream, and a reduced slate of items for Time Trials. We need the drinks on hand to sell at the meets throughout the season. We will accept cash and Venmo payments for concessions items.

4. Meet format: With the exception of relays, Time Trials will operate just like a regular meet. For new swimmers we will make sure they don't miss their event, but they should pay attention to the process for checking into Clerk of Course, reporting to the lanes, and starting a race. We will cover this with them on Friday, so they know what to expect.

5. Team Caps have come in and are available for purchase $10 each.  Katie should have them at practice today and we accept cash and Venmo.  With the number of swimmers we have please purchase one per swimmer and we will likely need to place a second order if they sell out fast.
