Week #4: First B-Meet at Lake Marion, Morning Practice and Parent’s Night Out!!
PIRANHA FAMILIES —-
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all of our Piranha Dad's out there!!
Congratulations on a great start to the season with a 402-350 victory over Waters Landing yesterday. Waters Landing were awesome guests and should serve as a great example for how we want to conduct ourselves when we visit Whetstone next Saturday. See our expected Code of Conduct below. Thank you to all of the volunteers who helped us out yesterday, especially with clean up, which took less than 30 minutes to return the pool to the condition in which we found it. We cannot host meets without all of your help.
THIS WEEK: We welcome Coach Julia back for out first ever Throwback Week.
1. Weekly B- Meet:
WHEN: Wednesday, June 21st @ 6pm.
THEME: Continues to be Color Wars:
Adults and Volunteers wear GREEN, 15-18’s wear PINK, 13-14’s wear PURPLE, 11-12’s wear BLUE, 9-10’s wear YELLOW, and 8u wear RED!!! The coaches will reinforce this week.
SIGN-UP: Please make sure to sign your swimmers up on-line by Monday evening (6/19) at 6pm. You can select the events they swim.
Eligibility Guidelines:
Swimmers may sign up for as many events as they want as long as they didn’t swim that event in the A meet, with the exception of freestyle. Swimmers can swim freestyle at the B meet as long as they placed outside the top 6 in freestyle if they swam it in the A meet.
You cannot swim any event you have an ALL-STAR time in.
A swimmer should not sign up for a stroke they are not legal in unless requested by Coach Julia (this usually means they are close to being legal). See the coach if you have a question.
A swimmer cannot swim the B meet in any stroke for which they are usually an A meet swimmer, but missed this past weekends A meet. I do not believe this applies to anyone this week.
VOLUNTEER: When you sign up your swimmer, please sign up to volunteer at the meet. We should have a large B-team this season, so I expect all parents to volunteer to support your swimmers!
MEET TIMING:
a. SWIMMERS: Swimmers arrive by 5pm and check in with Coach Julia and Coach Linx. Warm-ups will start around 5:25pm and last only 15 minutes.
b. VOLUNTEERS:

3. A-meet: Saturday, June 24th @ Whetstone Details will be sent on Wednesday.
- Please declare your swimmers as AVAILABLE / NOT AVAILABLE as soon as possible, so that Coach Julia can develop a line up as soon as possible.
4. TEAM EVENTS:
A. PARENT SOCIAL Friday 23 Jun 22 @ 61 Vineyards; 28712 Kemptown Rd from 6-9pm
This event is for PARENTS / COACHES only so we can have some quality adult time together. This event is FREE with the exception of whatever wine you choose to discover at the event. Feel free to bring any food that you would like to have or share with your Piranha parents. If you could, please RSVP by 21 June so we can make sure we reserve the proper amount of space that would be great. However, if you cannot RSVP, or forget to RSVP, no worries you can still attend the event. We look forward to seeing all of you there!! The Gregory’s apologize for likely being unable to attend this event as we will be picking Keegan up from camp at Penn State Friday.
B. Tie-dye Event: The event originally planned for June 22nd has been rescheduled to 4 July. See calendar.
5. CODE OF CONDUCT: I have noted some behavior among our swimmers that are not consistent with the conduct we want reflected by our team. Please see the conduct I expect our team to follow below. If I see or hear of exceptions to the expected conduct I will address it with the swimmer and their parents. We want the teams we visit and the teams we welcome to our pool to want us back. These expectations are self-explanatory and should be easy to comply with this season.
A. We will encourage our teammates and our competition at all times. This includes cheering for them and exchanging fist-bumps, hand shakes, or high fives after races.
B. We will treat coaches, volunteers, teammates, and competitors with respect. This means we listen during practices, the use of the word ‘NO’ is not in our vocabulary, and we follow instructions provided by both coaches and parent volunteers.
C. We will not use improper language on the pool deck at any time.
D. We will not bully anyone at any time. This is absolutely unacceptable.
E. We will not engage in horseplay on the pool deck during practices or meets and will cease any activity if requested by a coach, volunteer, lifeguard, or parent.
F. We will have fun and make sure everyone enjoys their summer swim team experience.
Go Piranhas!
Mike and Katie
