Piranhas —-

I want to thank all of the parents, officials, coaches, and swimmers for your composure on Saturday when Long Branch had a pretty significant operational issue with their center lane rope.  First, I asked Greg Flynn and Jason Woodward to see if they could help solve the problem.  I have spent years working scouts with Greg, and Jason is always ready to solve any issue, and I knew if anyone could develop a solution, Greg and Jason were the guys, and they came through.  Long Branch sent a thank you to Greg and Jason for calmly developing a solution while they were panicked and stressed.

I also want to thank the parents, swimmers, officials and coaches for not throwing a fit about it.  The lane rope wasn’t tight and did not operate as it should all day.  I didn’t hear anyone complaining or using it as an excuse.  I appreciate that.  We had a team measuring our backstroke flags to the inch this year, so I can’t imagine how they would have handled this situation.  Our response was perfect!
