Piranha’s Week 1 News
On behalf of Coach Stephanie and myself, I’d like to shout out a huge thank you to all of you for welcoming us to your amazing team. We have really enjoyed getting to know everyone this week. Each week I will try to send out a little newsletter like this explaining all the happenings for the week and any announcements I might have for the coming week.
This first week of summer swim has been a mixed bag of weather with a little rain and a little sunshine. One thing that hasn’t been great is the temperature of the water however, the swimmers this week did a great job and rose to the challenge of getting in on time and doing their best. I’ve been very impressed with their determination. Great job!
We hit the ground running this week with a lot of breaststroke and butterfly instructions and plan to keep that up next week along with some backstroke. By mid week we will do more work on starts and turns in preparation for TIME TRIALS.
Speaking of Time Trials, we are one week out from the big day and now is the time to sign up. I’m asking everyone on the team (not pre team) to log in and sign up their swimmer(s) in every stroke they can swim legally. If you are unsure of what to sign them up for, you can sign up to attend and I will place them in the events that I think they should swim. The deadline to sign up for Time Trials is Wednesday, June 5th. We will try to hold a make up the following Monday for those who can not attend. While you are logged in, you may as well declare your availability for every A meet. I need EVERY swimmer to declare if they can swim in all of the A meets. As a reminder, I chose the swimmers to compete at our Saturday A meets and I will only select from the list of swimmers who have completed this step. So if you are available, please select “available” to be considered. Once we have completed the make up time trials on Monday, I will be working on the first line up of the season so please get this step taken care of soon!
And finally, just a few reminders for the upcoming practices:
- Please continue to do your best to be on time
- Swimmers both male and female with hair longer than your eyes should be wearing a swim cap.
- Your swim bags should contain 2 pairs of goggles (1 to wear and 1 to lose) and a bottle of water to have during practice. They might not feel too warm now but as the temps increase they will be sweating and will need to replenish that water.
UP NEXT
Time Trials! Saturday, June 8th. Warm ups will start promptly at 8AM with the meet starting at 9AM. All swimmers should arrive by 7:45AM and check in with a coach.
As always if you have any questions feel free to reach out!
Thanks everyone and have a great weekend!
Coach Jenni
