    Last Week

We had a very successful Time Trials yesterday, which gave Stephanie and me great insight into what we need to focus on moving forward. The results are attached to this email.

A huge thank-you to all the parent volunteers who helped make the meet possible—and an extra shout-out to Katie Smith, who is always the first to arrive and the last to leave. The time and energy she and her family invest in making this season a success are truly immeasurable. It takes a village to run a swim team, and we need more villagers! Please consider stepping up to help her out.

    Shout Out

Shout-outs during Time Trials can be tricky, but I do want to recognize one standout swimmer from the day.

As a reminder, we are one team and compete together as the Plantation Piranhas. Sometimes that means swimmers are asked to step outside their comfort zones for the good of the team. One swimmer had a conversation with me about not wanting to swim a particular event—but she agreed to do it if the team needed her.

So, a big shout-out to Leilah S. for putting the team first. That kind of mindset is what makes a strong Piranha. 💪🏽

    This Week

📅 Monday Practice Update: The 5 PM and 6 PM practices are canceled. Instead, we’ll hold a make-up Time Trials session for swimmers who couldn’t attend yesterday.

👉 If your swimmer is attending on Monday, a parent must be present to help.

📣 First A Meet Line-Up: I’ll be setting and sharing the lineup for our first A Meet by Wednesday. Our meet theme for Saturday is HAWAIIAN so bring out those flower leis and Hawaiian shirts! IMPORTANT: Please log into Swimtopia and declare whether or not your swimmer is available for Saturday’s A Meet. This must be done by Tuesday at the latest!

Right now, we’re at risk of forfeiting events in the following age groups due to missing swimmers and missing declarations:

    • Girls 8 & Under
    • Boys 9/10
    • Girls 15–18
    • Boys 15–18

Several swimmers in these age groups haven’t declared yet. Remember: you must declare “yes” or “no” for every A Meet—including relays and Divisionals. If we don’t have enough swimmers, we will have to forfeit those events.

The first B meet will open for entries at noon on Saturday and close at 5PM on Monday. Please refer to the FAQ document for entry rules.

    Reminders

🏊 Swimmers with hair that reaches or covers the eyes—regardless of gender—must wear a swim cap at all practices and meets.

🙋 Summer swim is a team and family effort. Every family is expected to help out at meets and events. Don’t forget to sign up to volunteer!

That’s it for now. See? I promised these emails would get shorter. 😊 As always, feel free to reach out with any questions.
