Final Call for Official Certification- We Need You!

    Good evening,

This is a last call for a few good men and women who are interested in having the best seat at swim meets and become certified official...

"Last Chance" Stroke and Turn Clinic (online)Wed, Jun 11, 7:00pmNew or Recertifying Stroke and TurnThis clinic is for both first time and recertifying Stroke and Turn judges. This is the last Stroke and Turn Clinic for the season.
The Piranha's are looking for people to provide our swimmers opportunities to swim and improve by becoming Stroke & Turn Officials. To become certified, you attend a clinic where you listen to some of the swim league bigwigs explain the position. There are no tests or pop quizzes. It is non-invasive and non-interactive. You just listen. The only catch is that you have to sign-up in advance and then stay logged on for the duration of the clinic. Attendance = certification. A Stroke & Turn Judge watches the swimmers to make sure they are swimming the proper stroke and that they touch the wall. No swimming experience is necessary as the clinics do a very thorough job at explaining the strokes and use USA Swimming videos for visual demonstrations. Please know that just because you get certified does not mean that you have to be an official at every meet. We (aka Rob Klein - the BEST official in all of MCSL) will provide all sorts of support and shadowing during meets to make sure you feel comfortable. Ideally, we will have lots of certified officials and everyone takes turns. Unfortunately we are currently thin at only 7 certified officials on our team and we need at least 3 officials every meet. This means the same people will be always working unless more awesome people step up. Please remember that swim meets do not happen for our kids if we do not have parent officials, timers, and meet volunteers to run the meets. It is a big part of what makes swimming such a family/community event bringing together swimmers and volunteers. Stroke & Turn Officials just so happen to have a front row seat at the meet. Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_vXuMUurvS5ipy1PcUOrvkQ#/registration for the last chance to become Stroke.& Turn certified this Wednesday, June 11th.

The training is done online over zoom. Alas, if you do not get certified by attending this last chance clinic, you cannot be an official this summer (and I am sad). Feel free to reach out to me at (301) 520-0122 if you have any questions. Thank you very much and see you on the deck in the white shirt!
