Week 2-Swim Team Weekly Update: Practice Changes, Pasta Pig Out, & Time Trials!

    Happy Sunday!

After a chilly first week, the weather for this upcoming week is looking much better!

First, a quick reminder to please review the previous email sent by Coach Andrew and Coach Claire, as it contains important details. Please read all your emails! You can also find our FAQs, meet schedules, and upcoming events on the team website. A huge shoutout to Kurt for keeping it beautifully up to date!

Here is everything you need to know for the week ahead:

πŸŠβ™‚οΈ Practice Schedule & Poolside Reminders

Practices continue this week, Monday through Thursday, with a modified schedule on Friday.

⚠️ Important Change for 9-10 Girls Only: To help balance group sizes, the 9-10 girls will now practice during the 6:00–7:00 PM slot.

    Monday – Thursday Schedule:

    • 4:00 – 5:00 PM: 13-14 and 15-18 age groups
    • 5:00 – 6:00 PM: 8 & Under age group
    • 6:00 – 7:00 PM: 9-10 (Boys & Girls) and 11-12 age groups
    • Note: Pre-Team does not practice this week. Pre-Team starts on June 22nd.

Friday Schedule (Shorter practices focusing on starts and finishes):

    • 4:00 – 4:30 PM: 13-14 and 15-18 age groups
    • 4:30 – 5:00 PM: 8 & Under age group
    • 5:00 – 5:30 PM: 9-10 and 11-12 age groups

A Friendly Poolside Reminder for Parents: Please ensure the shallow side of the pool near the coaches remains clear during practice. Our coaches double as the lifeguards on duty, and with 110 swimmers, they need full visibility and space to focus on keeping everyone safe and coached. If you have questions for them, please chat with them briefly before or after practice times or email them. Thank you for your support with this!

🍝 Friday Night: Pasta Pig Out!

Join us this Friday for dinner starting around 5:30 PM on the lawn by the playground. Pre-team swimmers and siblings are absolutely welcome! Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on and water/something to drink for your family.

    • We need your help to feed our hungry crew! Please Sign Up Here to Donate Food/Items.
    • Drop-off: You can bring your donations to the lawn between 5:15 and 5:25 PM on Friday.

⏱️ Time Trials (Saturday, June 6th)

Please Sign Up Here to declare whether your swimmer can attend or not. If they are attending, please sign them up for every stroke they can legally swim.

    • Sign-Up Deadline: Wednesday, June 3th. (Coaches will review and finalize events).
    • Arrival Time: Please have swimmers at the pool by 8:00 AM for warm-ups.
    • Make-up Time Trials: Monday, June 8th from 5:00 – 7:00 PM (Regular 5:00 and 6:00 PM practices will be canceled this day). If your swimmer is doing the make-up session, please declare them online so we have an accurate count. Parents of swimmers making up time trials will be required to stay and help time.

    🀝 Volunteering & Concession Donations

Time Trials can only happen with your help! It’s also the perfect, low-pressure opportunity to learn how different swim meet roles work.

    • Volunteer Roles: Please review and sign up for open positions Here.
    • Volunteer Overview: I will hold a brief walkthrough of the roles on Tuesday, June 2nd at 5:30 PM.
    • Drink Donations: Please bring the following beverage donations (used to stock our concessions for home meets) based on your last name (I will be there on Tuesday and Friday, so please bring them then):
      • A–E: Diet Coke / Coke Zero (Two 12-packs or one 24-pack)
      • F–J: Regular Coke (Two 12-packs or one 24-pack)
      • K–O: Sprite (Two 12-packs or one 24-pack)
      • P–S: Gatorade (24-pack of 12 oz bottles)
      • T–Z: Water (24-pack of 12 oz bottles)

As always, please reach out if you have any questions. See you at the pool!

    Best,

    Katie

P.S. I am still looking for a co-Team Rep to share the reins with me this season as well as an automation to shadow Mary Stroot! If you’re interested or want to learn more about what it entails, please let me know!
