WHEN: Saturday, June 11th at 9:00am, warm-ups will start at 8:30 for all age groups. WEATHER: It's pretty much anyone's guess at this point. Weather is not a science. Don't blame Mike. WHERE: Plantations II Pool DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: You must have your swimmers declared for the meet by noon on Thursday, June 9th. We need everyone possible to participate in Time Trials. Coach Julia and I will be putting the lineup together on Thursday evening. Unlike previous years, Coach Julia is going to determine the events you will be swimming at Time Trials. If you miss the deadline for some reason, please contact the Team Reps. We will schedule makeups for Monday and Tuesday next week, but with a limited amount of space and time with the practices going on we may not be able to get everyone through all of the events. If you have a swimmer making up time trials, make sure you stay around to time. VOLUNTEER: We need all parents to check out the volunteer sign up tab that is next to the meet sign up tab for time trials. We need 20 timers for this meet, 4 stroke and turn judges, 2 runners, and 3 clerk of course, and 3 automation personnel among other jobs. When you sign your swimmer up, please sign up to volunteer. Cyndi Gregory and Shannon Dietrich are our Volunteer Coordinators. On Thursday and Friday they will start contacting those who have not volunteered to assign you a job. Please sign up to volunteer and pick your desired post, so we don't have to assign one for you. Ice Cream Social (After Each Practice)
Plantations Pool
The annual ice cream social occurs directly after each practice on Friday, June 10th (5:45pm for the 11-18 crowd, 6:45pm for the 10 and unders). Parents -- we need your help with this event. Volunteer opportunities for set up, servers, and clean-up are posted on the team site. It’s a fun and easy way (you’ll likely be there anyway) to keep the kids smiling. Please drop off all donations by 5:30pm on Friday so that we are ready to go at 5:45/6pm for the older kids. **We want to make sure all of our swimmers can participate in this great team building event, so please contact Korinne Panchura ([email protected]) if your child has any food allergies. She will be happy to work with you to be sure there is a safe option available for all. |

2nd Annual Piranha Pass Down

Collection has begun! Pass Down on Saturday, June 4th at practice! Do you have any gently worn Piranha gear, spirit wear or swim suits that your swimmer has outgrown? Why not give it a second life by donating it to a younger (or smaller) team mate? Bring it to the pool during the first week of practice and hand it off to Cyndi, Mike, Keegan or Zoie Gregory or to Cindy Ajamian. Or avoid the rush by dropping off your donations any time between now and the first practice at the Gregory house (23801 Echo Creek Court). On Saturday June 4th at 9:30 AM, Cyndi G. will have a table of donated items available on a first-come, first-served basis for swimmers who will fit in and use these items. |

Awards Banquet

We will be celebrating the 2021 Plantations Piranhas Swim Team on Saturday, July 24th starting at 4pm. This event is for every member of the swim team including pre-team swimmers, and all siblings and family members. Our rain date is Sunday, July 25th at 4pm. From 4pm-6pm we will gather in the grassy area between the playground and the pool for our awards program. You are encouraged to bring your own picnic dinner, blankets, bug spray, chairs, pop-up tent and drinks to enjoy the ceremonies. We will be starting awards at 4:15pm by the following schedule: 1. Welcome and Season Recap 2. Divisional Awards (if available) 3. Volunteer Recognition 4. Paper plate awards 5. Pre-Team recognition 6. Seniors 7. Season awards 8. Coaches 9. Team Recognition At 6pm we will adjourn to the pool for 2-hours of swimming until the pool closes (in the past we have reserved the pool for two-hours after it closes, but the HOA bylaws allowed for no parties or functions this season due to COVID, so we will just make it happen during the last two hours the pool is open.) If we have left over water and Gatorade we will make that available, but otherwise plan to bring your own drinks for the evening. Siblings and parents are encouraged to attend and to swim afterwards. |

WHEN: Saturday, July 24th, 9am. Warm-ups at 7:40am-8:00am; Check in with Coach Julia and Coach Sara by 7:30am. WHERE: Plantations II Pool WHO: North Creek Neptunes and New Mark Commons Barracudas CHALK IT UP: 7:15am come and decorate the entrance with your best chalk drawings!! TEAM AREA: Our team area will be about half the usual size and there will be signs, so make sure you are set-up in the correct team area! VOLUNTEERS: We will need volunteers for heat marshall, concessions, set-up and clean-up. Set-up will start at 6:30am. Go on-line to sign up. All of the other positions have been assigned as follows:
SPECTATORS: Still outside please. You can come in to watch your kids races and go to concessions. I will ask that you stand back from the pool's edge. We will have an increased number of officials that will need to transit up and down the pool, so we need to leave adequate space for them.

B Meet - Flower Hill (Away)

WHEN: Wednesday, July 21st @ 6pm. Swimmers arrive by 5:05pm and check in with Coach Julia. Warm-ups will start at 5:20pm WHERE: Flower Hill Swim Club, 8100 Mountain Laurel Ln.., Gaithersburg, MD 20879 WHO: Flower Hill SIGN UP: Please make sure to sign your swimmers up by 6pm Monday. If you wish to make changes Tuesday or Wednesday, please e-mail Coach Julia at [email protected]. VOLUNTEER: We will definitely need volunteers!!! When you sign your swimmers up, take a look and volunteer to help us out!!! We need Stroke and Turn Officials, a few people to bring tents, and a few other positions. Eligibility Guidelines: Swimmers may sign up for as many events as they want as long as they didn’t swim that event in the A meet, with the exception of freestyle. Swimmers can swim freestyle at the B meet as long as they placed outside the top 6 in freestyle if they swam it in the A meet. You cannot swim any event you have an all star time in. A swimmer should not sign up for a stroke the my are not legal in. See the coach if you have a question. A swimmer cannot swim the B meet in any stroke for which they are usually an A meet swimmer, but missed this past weekends A meet.

WHERE: Plantations II Pool WHO: Norbeck Hills DECLARE YOUR SWIMMERS: Please go in and declare whether your swimmers are available for this meet. Coach Julia is making out the lineup today and we need to know if your swimmer will be available for the meet! CHALK IT UP: 7:30am come and decorate the entrance with your best chalk drawings!! VOLUNTEERS: We still need some volunteers for Saturday, which is our last home dual meet of the season, and one of your last chances to check off that volunteer box for the season!!!
