Beaver Dam Trip (optional to attend - but no swim practice that day)

*** No morning or afternoon practice including pre-team. Time: Open from 11am - 6:30pm. We'll meet at the pool at 9:15am to caravan down together and leave the parking lot around 9:40am. It's about an hour away. Cost: ADULTS (Ages 12 and older) $20/person and CHILDREN (Ages 2-11) $16/person. If you need help to cover the cost, please let us know and we can get you a scholarship. What is Beaver Dam?: BEAVER DAM SWIMMING CLUB is located in
Cockeysville, Maryland. It covers about 30 acres. We are known for our
fresh water quarry and our infamous rope swing. Come spend a
fun-filled day with us, swimming in either one of our
two pools (up to 5' deep) OR, for STRONG SWIMMERS, the quarry (average
depth 40'). After swimming, take a break and enjoy some volleyball on
one of our sand volleyball courts. If relaxing is more your interest,
we have shaded areas with grills (16" X 16")
for picnics and cookouts. You may bring your own food and drinks (BUT NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES) or stop by our snack bar for a quick bite to eat.
Life Vests: LIFE VESTS REQUIRED AS INSTRUCTED BY LIFEGUARDS AND MANAGEMENT. All children ages 4 - 8 years old MUST wear a life vest while swimming in the quarry. No swim test option. MUST BE 4 YEARS OLD TO SWIM IN THE QUARRY. Life Vests can be rented for $20 and once returned, you will be refunded. For More Information:

Friday Frenzy #1 and Team Photo!

We'll start the day with a team photo (including pre-team) at 8:00am. Please arrive on time wearing a black swimsuit or Piranhas gear. Then we'll have practice for the team from 8:30 - 9:30am. Following practice, we'll have water polo and we will work on our service project from 9:30 - 10:30am. Lastly, we'll have a big breakfast at 10:30am. Please make sure that all breakfast donations are dropped off before 10:00am. The breakfast is open to all swimmers (including pre-team.) Times:
*Service Project Note - Swimmers of all ages will make dog toys for our furry friends! We did this last year with community supply donations, and the center was thrilled with the 265 animal toys. Please donate any tennis balls, fleece material, or old t-shirts in the box at the Plantations community pool under the bulletin board by Friday, July 5th. She is willing to do porch pick up of donations by emailing her at [email protected]. Thank you so much for your support as we not only teach kids to support each other in swim, but also to be kind to others. |

A Relay Carnival at Long Branch

A-Relay Carnivals at Long Branch in Silver Spring. It will take 45-50 minutes to get there, so leave early. There is NO PARKING at the pool unless you received a parking pass from me. Warm-ups are from 8:15-8:30 am. Please be at the pool by 8 am. Our team area is on the grassy area next to lane 1 closes to the starter. Now, on to parking (it's a lot of information): You want to get there early (like 7:30) to get a spot at the library. This information was given to me by the LB. Most convenient is the Long Branch Library lot, which has about 70 spaces. There is a footbridge between the library lot and LB Pool. It takes just a couple minutes to walk between the two. After the library lot, they recommend parking along Garland Ave, Hinsdale Ave, and Wayne Ave north of the library park/near Oak View ES. On-street parking is not restricted on those streets closest to LB park (indicated on the LB parking map). There is a footpath through the trees at the end of Garland that leads to the tennis courts behind the library parking lot. Oak View ES also has about 20 parking spots. It is about a 10 minute walk from Oak View ES to the pool. On street parking closest to the Long Branch Library is permit restricted. Please do not park along any streets with parking restrictions. The streets north of Wayne Ave do not have any parking restrictions. It is a 15+ minute walk from this area to the pool. Rolling Terrace ES (on the other side of Piney Branch Rd) has about 80 parking spots. There isn’t much unrestricted on-street parking available between Rolling Terrace ES and LB Pool. It is about a 10 minute walk from Rolling Terrace to the pool. Note: you do have to cross Piney Branch Road with this option. There is a light at the end of Barron St with a crosswalk. A last option for parking are the El Golfo and Giant parking lots. This should be a last resort, as the most direct path to LB from these lots is blocked by Purple Line construction. To get to Long Branch from these parking lots, you must walk along Piney Branch Road, which does not have any shade and is heavily impacted by Purple Line construction. The routes from north of the pool (near Oak View) and Rolling Terrace are more shaded/quieter. |

Who: Piranhas vs Barracudas of Norbeck Grove Where: At Norbeck Grove! Norbeck Grove Pool is located at 18309 Wickham Rd, Olney, MD 20832. Parking is available in the pool parking lot. The have a second lot that is a very short distance up Wickham Rd between the basketball courts and the playground. Please enter the pool through the large gate. There are no restrictions if you need to park in the neighborhood on the street as long as you obey parking signs. When: Please arrive no later than 8:10 AM for an 8:25 AM warm up time. Why: Our meet theme for Saturday is USA. Please come decked out red, white and blue to celebrate Independance Day. I will be sending out an updated A relay swimmer list this afternoon so be on the lookout for that. A final list will be sent Saturday after the A meet for our Relay Carnival on Sunday. Parent Night Out Social - Stone Silo Brewery

Come out to meet and socialize with the parents! Please leave the kids at home :) Feel free to bring snacks, appetizers, or desserts to share. We'll be setting up a table to put food on. Feel free to bring camping chairs. There will be live music playing by Andy Carignan. There will also be a Vittles in the Pines/Tony's BBQ food truck there until 7:30pm. The MoCo Adoption Center in Derwood needs our help so our swimmers of all ages will make dog toys for our furry friends as our summer service project! We did this last year with supply donations from the community and the center was thrilled with the 265 toys for the animals (see comment for picture).
Please donate any tennis balls, fleece material, or old tshirts in the box at the Plantations community pool under the bulletin board by Friday, July 5th. I am also willing to do porch pick up of donations...just send me a DM.
